Learn About Grants for Artist-School Partnerships – Apply by October 27
(Syracuse) Are you a teacher looking to bring the arts into your classroom? Are you a visual or performing artist who wants to share your art-making with children? Are you part of a cultural organization that wants to collaborate more deeply with schools on developing curricula?
Arts-in-education art$TART grants are available to fund projects in Central New York schools that use the arts to support school curricula by developing partnerships with community artists and/or cultural organizations.
In granted partnerships, teachers and artists work together to plan and teach toward New York State arts and non-arts standards. All pre-K – 12 public and private schools in nine CNY counties (Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Onondaga, Oswego, and St. Lawrence) are eligible for the grants, which award up to $2500 in matching funds, or up to $5000 for schools that are expanding previously granted partnerships. Cultural organizations, artists, or schools can initiate the granting process.
There will be orientation sessions in various locations around Central New York to help applicants learn more about how to create a partnership and how to apply for grants. Currently scheduled sessions include:
