Seventeen CNY Schools Receive Grants for Arts Partnerships
Seventeen schools in seven Central New York counties have received art$TART arts-in-education grants of up to $4,000 each. Administered by Syracuse-based Partners for Arts Education (PAE), the grants help students meet New York State learning standards by having teachers partner with local artists or cultural organizations. Together, they use the arts to strengthen classroom learning.
Included are two schools in the Syracuse City School District Arts in Mind initiative, which is a collaborative effort among PAE, SCSD, and local funders to bring the arts to all Syracuse students.
The awards total $36,375 for this round of funding. This year 22 schools applied for the grants. Several other projects are currently awaiting funding from other sources.
This is the eleventh round of art$TART grants, which have distributed over $230,000 to 130 area schools as matching grants since 2001. The New York State Council on the Arts provides most of the funding for art$TART.
