Bio:
Joan Applebaum is the Visual Arts Coordinator and a Visual Arts Instructor for youth, teens and adults at the East Area Family YMCA in Fayetteville, a teaching artist, and active professional artist who has exhibited her work throughout New York State. She earned her B.A. at SUNY Potsdam in Arts Studio and Photography.
As a teaching artist, Joan is flexible and can adapt to many situations easily. She particularly appreciates situations where the students are involved, helping each other, and sharing information, and partnerships where the TA, assistants and students are all working together. She regularly develops lesson plans for all ages that incorporate NYS Standards.
Her exhibits have included solo shows at the Delavan Art Gallery, the Adirondack Centers for the Arts in Old Forge and Blue Mountain Lake and the Community Arts Council Gallery in Utica. Juried shows have included the CNY Biennial at the Kirkland Art Center in Clinton; National Women’s Exhibition, Impact Artists Gallery, Buffalo; New York State Fair Fine Arts Exhibitions; Central Adirondack Art Show, Masters Division, Old Forge; Utica Regional Exhibit; National League of American Pen Women Juried Show; Gallery 210, Syracuse.
