Abstract: The funds will be used to take a class at Penland School of Crafts to learn skills to develop an arts integrated lesson – Self Portrait Book Plates -- for the Albany Institute of History and Art’s Partnership Project with Carroll Hill Elementary, Troy City Schools. Book arts will be used as a path to integrate and improve student learning and support school literacy goals via exploring and communicating individual experiences, reflecting on the relationship between text and visual elements, and strengthening analytical, observational, spatial reasoning and design skills.

The course will help my own practice as a teaching-artist, and sharpen my skills in leading PD workshops for teachers.

TAP funds will support three consultants and the school district funds will support the teachers.
