Montessori School of Syracuse - "The Art of Weaving in Native American Cultures"

Teaching artist and weaver Sarah Saulson works with a student at a floor loom.

She then teaches what she learned to another student.

Two students look on as another weaves at a table loom.

A student works on his weaving in front of a tipi.

Sarah and a student work together at the loom in the gallery.

Small table looms were available in the classrooms so students could weave
during the school day.

A student watches intently while another weaves.

A primary student uses a loom comb to tighten the weft strips on the standing loom.
Older students taught weaving techniques to younger ones.

Examples of Native American weaving and a loom are in the school gallery for students
and visitors to view.

A student talks about the weaving with a visitor from the Nottingham - the school has an ongoing relationship with the Nottingham Senior Living Center.
