Seventeen CNY Schools Receive Grants for Arts Partnerships

Seventeen schools in five Central New York counties have received art$TART arts-in-education grants of up to $2500 each. Administered by Syracuse-based Partners for Arts Education (PAE), the grants help students meet New York State learning standards by having teachers partner with local artists or cultural organizations. Together, they use the arts to strengthen classroom learning.

Four of the schools in the Syracuse City School District (SCSD) are pilot schools in the Arts in Mind initiative, which is a collaborative effort among PAE, SCSD, and local funders to bring the arts to all Syracuse students.

This year 19 schools applied for the grants. The awards total $36,000 for this round of funding.

This is the tenth round of art$TART grants, which have distributed over $195,000 to 130 area schools as matching grants since 2001. The New York State Council on the Arts provides funds for art$TART.
