FOR IMMEDIATE
RELEASE
Partners for Arts Education’s
Reeder Joins Teaching Artist Journal
(May 16, 2006; Syracuse)Laura
Reeder, Executive Director of the
Syracuse-based nonprofit Partners
for Arts Education, has agreed to
take on the position of Newsbreak
Editor for Teaching Artist Journal
(TAJ).
TAJ is an international
quarterly publication from the Center
for Arts Policy at Columbia College
in Chicago, and is the leading peer-reviewed
periodical for addressing practice,
research, theory, opinion, and issues
related to teaching artists (professionals
with skills in both teaching and the
arts). It is published by Lawrence
Earlbaum Associates. The founding
editor was arts education innovator,
Eric Booth.
Ms. Reeder will edit
the “Newsbreak” section
of TAJ, which disseminates information
on changes in the field, conferences,
grant opportunities, and advocacy
occasions.
Said Nick Jaffe, editor-in-chief,
“Laura brings tremendous vision,
experience and energy to our editorial
team. We're very fortunate to have
her in this role that can be so important
to sharing important developments
and making vital connections across
the field. I'm sure her contributions
to building and shaping the journal
will extend far beyond the Newsbreak
section.”
Ms. Reeder maintains an exciting balance
in the arts education arena as a visual
teaching artist, an arts specialist,
a college professor, a museum educator,
and mother. She works closely with
the New York State Council on the
Arts, Empire State Partnerships, the
Institute for Aesthetic Education,
and hundreds of schools and cultural
organizations in and beyond the state
of New York to deepen the role of
the arts in our everyday lives.
