National Arts Education Advocate to Speak in Syracuse

(Syracuse) John Abodeely, Manager of Arts Education at Americans for the Arts, will be speaking on Thursday, October 12, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Redhouse, 201 South West St. in Syracuse. His visit is the season opener of the CNY Arts Education Roundtable for 2006 – 07, presented by Partners for Arts Education (PAE).

He will host a conversation on the state of arts in education in Central New York and PAE’s role in providing funding and support services to our community schools, artists and cultural organizations. He will also discuss current national advocacy work securing and advancing arts education at the federal level, as well as resources available to teaching artists, administrators and others supporting arts education.

Mr. Abodeely, a native New Yorker coming from an arts education administration background in Seattle, WA, focuses on increasing policy and infrastructure for arts education at the local level and supporting the hard work of administrators working to increase arts education in the field.
