This year the children of New York State have had new opportunities to succeed in school as a result of the partnerships among schools, artists, and cultural organizations that are fostered by Partners for Arts Education. We have seen a year filled with educational leadership, excellence in artistic learning, and unique solutions to issues that face our schools and community during the 2007-08 school year.

Please pledge your support now as we design new and important opportunities for the children of New York State to grow as creative citizens for the future.

So much has happened in the past year:

- School Arts Partnerships is enabling students all over New York State to work with their teachers and artistic partners in long-term learning experiences in 19 schools. Students are creating a state-recognized bird sanctuary on their school campus, using storytelling, dramatic role play, creative writing and music to learn about slavery in their community, and learning how to make mature life decisions by using drama and the art of storytelling to resolve everyday social dilemmas and conflicts.

- Our Central New York art$TART partnerships are bringing learning to life as students video conference with students in Afghanistan, take on the traditional role of griot/oral historian, and explore the nature of birds through scientific observation, literature, and legend.

- The Arts in Mind initiative with the Syracuse City School District is increasing potential for student achievement through more equitable access, alignment, integration, and professional development of cultural resources into whole-school planning at four pilot schools.

- Hundreds of professional educators, artists, cultural organization staff, and community leaders gathered in Rochester to create lively and stimulating “CommonGround,” our annual New York State-wide arts-in-education conference. In April, we'll meet again in Albany.

- Our Technical Assistance Program has supported training, scholarships for conferences, and facilitated arts-in-education planning retreats, helping educators, artists, and arts organizations to develop long-term strategies for learning.

- Cultural organizations, artists, and educators have been attending our CNY Arts Education Roundtables to collaborate and deepen the role of the arts in the everyday lives of our children and their schools.

As we address the multiple educational needs of each and every child, we find that our schools are racing to reform their practices and our cultural partners are keeping up with them!  A tax-deductible contribution to Partners for Arts Education will directly impact the professional, highest-quality arts-in-education resources available for our students, in our neighborhoods.

Please join us as a Partner for Arts Education.
Your contribution will transform our future.
