What information is needed to help
bolster the confidence and skills
of new teaching artists and arts
specialists as they begin an AIE
career?
The New York Alliance
for Arts Education with support from
the Dana Foundation has developed
a Toolkit designed to present the
most up-to-date compendium of information
for both practitioners and advocates
of Arts Education/Arts in Education.
We will distribute the Toolkit and
ask for feedback from teaching artists
and certified arts teachers who have
been in the classroom from one to
four years. The
Toolkit is a response to numerous
requests for information regarding
a wide assortment of topics including:
planning, implementation and assessment,
funding, advocacy, productive partnerships,
and the ages and stages of learning.
Participants will
be asked to provide their thoughts
on the resources, information, and
professional development opportunities
that would provide the support they
need as they continue to work in
the classroom for many years to come.
Critical questions will be solicited
from the group and break
out groups will discuss burning issues
that arise from the discussion.
