This workshop will focus on the nuts
and bolts of assessment. With
years of assessment experience working
with the NY City public schools,
Russell will make
this workshop practical, doable,
and fun. Assessment is about
improving practice. So, whether
you are a classroom teacher, teaching
artist, school or cultural administrator,
this session will introduce practical
assessment strategies to meet your
goals and objectives.

The outcomes are the same for each
role group. The workshop is
designed to address each participant
based on their current understanding
of assessment. I
make no assumptions. Outcomes include; building a common assessment vocabulary,
designeing an essential question, data collection, analysis of data, developing
evidence, writing a report, and sharing lessons learned.

Russell
Granet is
the Director of Professional
Development and Peer Exchange
at the Center for Arts Education.
He is currently an adjunct professor
at the CUNY and teaches a course
on special education and the arts
for NYU’s Program
in Educational Theatre. An
arts education consultant for more
than 15 years on the East and
West Coast, he has worked with
both public and independent schools.
He was a founding board member of
the NYC Arts in Education Roundtable. A
graduate of Emerson College and the
London Academy of Music and Dramatic
Art, he holds an M.A. in Educational
Theatre from NYU.
