This workshop will focus
on how the creative process of choreography
can build and support critical thinking
skills and collaborative learning.
Based on City Center's Choreography
Residency, participants will work
in small groups to choreograph dance
phrases inspired by a masterwork. The
workshop focuses on the creative
process and includes peer critique,
reflection, and revision of the work. Participants
will come to understand how dance
and the creative process can support
critical thinking.

how following the creative process
and developing choreography can support
their class work, develop critical
thinking skills, and encourage collaborative
learning.
Artists: will walk
away with an understanding of how
peer critique, reflection, and revision
can improve the quality of student'
choreography.
Organizational Administrators:
will walk away with an understanding
of how a choreographic program can
be developed to support curriculum
and critical thinking skills.
Educational Administrators:
will walk away with an understanding
of how the creative process of choreography
can support their teachers' efforts
to develop collaborative learning
and critical thinking skills.

Traci
Hinton-Peterson currently
teaches dance and facilitates staff
development workshops for the NYCDOE
and City Center. She has served
as a panelist for NYFA, an auditor
for NYSCA, presenter for the Empire
State Partnership Conference, and
presenter at NYS Association for
Computers and Technologies in Education. In
addition, she has worked as a Teaching
Artist for City Center, the Joyce
Theatre, New Victory Theatre, and
numerous cultural organizations.
