of NCLB on Teaching Artists
Glenn McClure
Board President, Association
of Teaching Artists |
A panel of
teaching artists, school administrators,
and cultural leaders will discuss
the effects of No Child Left Behind
on teaching artists.
We all have a general
idea of how NCLB has affected AIE,
but this panel will explore the specific
effects of NCLB on teaching artists.
Our panelists will examine NCLB policies
from a variety of perspectives and
shed light on how their impact on
the teaching artist profession.
Questions from the audience will
be welcomed.
Thursday 2:15-3:45
Conference Strand:
Education/Policy Reform
Educators: Teachers
have unions, but they often don’t
understand the working realities
of teaching artists. This panel
will give them knowledge that will
create stronger partnerships with
teaching artists.
Artists: Teaching
artists will understand more fully
the NCLB mechanisms that affect their
work and learn new strategies to
work within these boundaries.
Organizational Administrators:
Cultural organization leaders must
balance the needs of teachers and
teaching artists in their partnerships. This
panel will give them new information
and strategies to advocate for teaching
artists.
Educational Administrators:
Administrators will be able to support
the teaching artists working in their
districts in new ways through the
insights gained in this panel.
