This workshop will showcase a successful
partnership between a long-standing
arts-integration program and an institution
of higher education that exposes
disadvantaged students to college
and prepares future teachers for
arts-based learning environments.
In the fall of 2006, teachers at
Mt. Morris Central created a partnership
with SUNY Geneseo pre-service teachers
to introduce novice educators to
the world of arts and curriculum
integration. Through immersion in
an arts residency, pre-service teachers
realize the possibilities and benefits
of an integrated arts program and
practice curriculum integration skills.
As a participant in this workshop,
you will see the process used in
this partnership and practice these
skills in small group activities.
