The workshop will explore the use of the Evidence of Teacher and Student Learning template as a planning tool in our partnership's first year of school wide art integration. We will examine how the template can be used as a tool for developing curriculum, fostering communication, tracking progress, creating built-in assessment, and documenting action research.  We will share our methods for creating time and support for teaching artists and classroom teachers as they learn how to utilize this new tool.     

Conference Strand: Curriculum and Assessment

Educators: will understand how to use the template as a tool to further develop their arts integration unit of study, and get tips on how to prepare for the planning meeting and the process of collaborating with the teaching artist.

Artists: will understand how to use the template as a tool to organize interdisciplinary curriculum.        

Cultural Organization Administrators: will understand how to use the template as a tool to track progress and further develop a partnership.     

Education Administrators: will understand how to use the template as a tool to reach educational goals in a partnership.

Abbee Bourret has been teaching middle school art for three years at IS 71 in Brooklyn. She earned her undergraduate degree in graphic design and master’s degree in art education at the School of Visual Arts.  Abbee has become the gallery on-site coordinator during the second year of the school’s partnership with BRIC Rotunda Gallery.  Abbee is proficient at reading while walking. She lives with her cat in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
