of mind necessary to effective teaching
artist practice.
Teaching
artists usually develop their knowledge
and skills in the field. Their
livelihood depends on success in a wide
range of educational environments.This
panel will explore key questions surrounding
the process and results that constitute
high-quality teaching artist residency
work. Our panel will include master teaching
artists and representatives from educational
and cultural organizations. Presented
by The Association of Teaching Artists.
Conference Strand:
Core Knowledge
Educators: will gain
concrete knowledge of teaching artistry,
including how to recognize high quality
and how best to support teaching artists
in their environment.
Artists: will
understand the scope of teaching artistry
as it applies to multiple environments,
and how educators and cultural representatives
view their work and make hiring
decisions.
Cultural Organization
Administrators: will leave
with the skills necessary to recognize
high quality teaching artists and will
learn new strategies to support teaching
artists in their professional development

Glenn
McClure, Board President
of the Association of Teaching Artists,
is a composer and arts-integration consultant.
His award winning compositions are widely
played through the US and Europe, and
his arts integration work can be found
in school partnerships around NYS and
beyond. His project “Galileo’s
Universe” was featured on National
Public Radio in May 2006.
