The
creation of a new arts and technology
integrated school offers both: 1)
a chance for deep reflection on curriculum
design and 2) an opportunity to explore
collaborative problem solving techniques
that lead toward school reform.
ArtPeace@East
is an arts/tech-based school in the
Rochester City School District currently
in its first year. We will share the
milestones of the founding process. We
will use small-group reflection to engage
participants in several foundational
questions surrounding arts-based curriculum
reform. Participants
will gain concrete knowledge of the necessary
steps in moving traditional instructional
culture toward an arts-based, 21st-century
learning community.
Conference Strand:

every day in a collaborative, arts integrated
school.
Cultural Organization
Administrators: will
gain new insight into the ways in which
an arts organization can play a significant
role in the instructional design of
a school.
Education
Administrators: will see
the ups and downs of partnering with
an arts organization at the level
of school design (not just a short-term
residency).
