Participants
will engage with John Abodeeley from
Americans for the Arts, Montalvo Teaching
Artist Fellow Carol Ponder, and Lisa
Donovan, the Creative Arts in Learning
Director from Lesley University, in a
series of breakout "workgroups" to
raise the NYS profile for teaching artist
practice and potential as it relates
to other states, the nation, and international
communities.
Conference Strand:
Education Reform
Artists:
will increase ownership of their place
in the professionalism of the career.
Cultural Organization
Administrators: will
form some action plans for securing
a more consistent body of TA faculty,
colleagues, and leaders.

Laura Reeder has
recently been appointed to the national
Arts Education Council at American for
the Arts, and has received a Kauffman
Foundation “E-Practitioner” fellowship
for her work with artists who teach.
As founding Executive Director of PAE,
Laura has spent many years in service
of educators, artists, cultural organizations,
and communities from every county of
New York State and with grantees from
the NYS Council on the Arts. Her years
as a certified art teacher and as a visual
teaching artist with the Institute for
Aesthetic Education have sharpened her
awareness of critical arts education
issues. She is also Newsbreak
Editor for Teaching
Artist Journal.
