"Community Life in Poetry"

Laureate Council

These are the noted local writers who will act in an advisory capacity for the program throughout the upcoming months:

Adam Banks Professor, S.U. Writing Program
  Mr. Banks has a Ph.D. from Penn State U.; community programming is a key focus of his work as an educator.
Cedric Bolton Poet; Program Director, S.U. Office of Multicultural Affairs
 
Mr. Bolton has extensive community experience in Minneapolis, WS; he is the former academic advisor of the African American Learning Center at the University of Minnesota and founder of Poetic Black Fusion, a writers' group for poets of African descent in Minneapolis.
David Lloyd Professor, LeMoyne College
 
Mr. Lloyd is the former Chair of Creative Writing Department at LeMoyne. He is a nationally published poet and fiction writer. Read one of his poems.
Ellen McNeal Poet; Fiber Artist
 
Ms. McNeal was the administrator for the Community Writers Project in 1980s - early 90s. She is a board member of the CNY Chapter of American Pen Women and serves on the Editorial Board of the Comstock Review. Read a pair of her poems.
Michael Sickler Professor, Studio Arts, S.U
 
Mr. Sickler is a nationally published poet, currently on sabbatical from S.U. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Comstock Review.  Read one of his poems.
Deb Urbanski Poet; Partner, Boxcar Press
 
Ms. Urbanski has her MFA in Creative Writing (Poetry and Fiction) from S.U. She formerly worked for the public affairs office of the Minneapolis Public School District.
Martin Walls Poet; YMCA's Downtown Writer's Center writing faculty

Mr. Walls is a winner of the Witter Bynner Prize awarded by the Library of Congress and judged by Ted Kooser (among other prizes). He has an MFA in Creative Writing from Purdue University. Read one of his prose poems.
