Partnerships
As part of "Community
Life in Poetry," CNY schools
are participating in artist
residencies with local professional
poets. Poetry partnerships include
5 full school days or 10 half days
with one poet/teaching
artist, and integrate poetry and
research about “Community Life
in Poetry” and the role of a
poet laureate. Teachers may include
other arts disciplines as they coincide
with curriculum needs within the poetry
projects. There are also opportunities
for professional
development for teachers to strengthen
skills in teaching poetry, incorporating
poetry as a tool for reading comprehension,
and elements of arts in education
as it empowers the classroom experience.
Participating schools:
East MS (Auburn)
Indian
River HS
Jamesville-Dewitt MS
Fitzhugh
Park ES (Oswego)
Kingsford Park ES (Oswego)
