Matching Funds
Matching
Funds are typically required for
any partnership grant. They are
the contribution made by the granted
partners to show commitment to
the project. Partnership applicants
must show that for every dollar
they request from the grant program,
they have secured at least one
matching dollar in income.
Matching
funds may be comprised of a combination
of cash and in-kind resources.
The cash portion of the match must
equal at least 25% for
art$TART; the rest may be in-kind
contributions. Cash may come from
the school and/or the cultural
partner, but the school must contribute
at least half of the cash. Examples
of cash contributions include money
spent on:
- materials
-
busing
- payments to substitutes
- payments to teachers for after-school
time
- payments to artists
Some grantees
find matching funds from a PTO,
district professional development
funds, teacher center grants, literacy
programs, extended day programs,
Title 1 funds, BOCES aid, community
and/or school foundations, local
businesses, and fundraisers.
Examples
of in-kind resources are non-cash
donations of:
- time spent by
teachers after school
- materials from outside groups
- volunteer time
