Meet the Partners
Take
a minute to acquaint (or re-acquaint)
yourself with the people that bring
quality support to your arts in education
mission. Partners for Arts Education
has recently undergone a strategic-planning
process that will result in a re-structuring
of our board of directors, staff,
and advisory boards to better serve
the needs of our colleagues all over
New York State.
Stay tuned for our board & advisory
introductions in the months to come.
In the meantime, stay in touch with
the folks that continue to keep you
informed, funded, connected, and highly
professional!
Laura
Reeder, Executive Director
My
title never changes, but the reach
of my work with all of you is ever-widening.
Please call on me for broad strokes
to paint the picture for all of the
programs described below. I am deeply
committed to developing panels, networks,
and resources that use the expertise
from New York State
and national professionals in all
that we do.
RJ Rapoza, Administrative Director
As AD I'm working on many things in support
of PAE's overall mission.
Currently my work centers around
coordinating the Common Ground conference,
refining and re-visioning the administration
of NYSCA's Technical Assistance Program
(TAP), and overall fund development
for the New York State PAE programs.
Georgia
Popoff, CNY Community Coordinator
My
major contribution to PAE is to coordinate
the CNY Arts-in-Education Roundtable. This gives me the chance to work with school
districts, teaching artists, and cultural/community
organizations in our 9-county region.
I am also the office administrator,
which I hope helps our office serve
you well.
Sue Stonecash, Funding Coordinator
My
role at PAE is to administer the CNY
art$TART grant and the state-wide
School Arts Partnership (SAP) grant.
I try to offer our constituents
counseling on the logistics of applying
and implementing a partnership and
help with coordinating the funding
process.
Connie
Walters,
Network Coordinator
My
job at PAE is to make it easy, pleasurable,
and (especially) productive for the
arts in ed
community to use Partners as a resource
for information. I put together this
newsletter, take care of local and
statewide e-mailings and press releases,
and maintain our website.

SAP Grant Update
2004 - 05 SAP Grants Recipients
We
congratulate this year's recipients
of SAP Grants. As always, it was an
intense and exhilarating process to
see over 67 well-constructed partnerships
in the making. As always, it was redeeming
to see the fingerprints of the Empire
State Partnerships all over these
plans. There is no question that the
investment of our hearts to school
reform in and through the arts is
working.
You
can find out more about them at http://www.arts4ed.org/funding/SAP2_summary.shtml

Technical Assistance
Common Ground
'05
Planning
is in full swing for next year's Common
Ground Conference. You can get up
to date information at http://www.arts4ed.org/conference/CG05/index.shtml.
Regional advisory committees have
been meeting around the state (Buffalo region, Rochester
region, Southern Tier, CNY, Hudson
region, Capital/Adirondack region,
NYC, LI) - contact your local Arts
Ed Roundtable or LCB for more information.
These
regional committees will be encouraging
the local arts-in-ed community to
develop workshop proposals (see below),
reminding their colleagues about TAP
funds available for CG05 (see below),
generating energy and excitement,
and revisiting evaluation outcomes
from last year's conference to shape
development for this year.
Workshop RFP's due Dec 3
We are looking
forward to another batch of outstanding
workshops.
If you are interested in presenting a workshop at CG05 you can access the RFP at http://www.arts4ed.org/conference/CG05/RFP.shtml
.
The deadline for RFP's is December
3.
TAP funds available
TAP funds will be available to help
cover conference fees. There are three
deadlines for TAP CG05 - December
1, February 1, and March 1. It never
hurts to plan ahead. Information on
the special TAP CG05 grant application
is available on our website at http://www.arts4ed.org/funding/TAP/TAP_CG05.shtml
For those of you who like a little friendly
competition - we want
to see who can register the most members
of a NYSCA-funded partnership team.
If your team comes as the delegation
with the most partners, there will
be special rewards and recognition!
The record was set last year at 12,
by Andy Salgado and his gang from
InCollaboration! Bonus points will
be extended for first-time attendees,
parents, & teachers. Start signin'
'em up!
