CCE Research
Initiative Begins
Community,
Culture, & Education is a
Central New York
Arts-in-Education Research Initiative established
to assess and improve how PAE can support CNY cultural organizations
as they partner with schools.
With funding from the Gifford Foundation, PAE has engaged Phil
Alexander, AIE consultant for the
NYS Council on the Arts, and established
an Evaluation Team of CNY arts-in-education
professionals to help us examine
six of our 2006-07 funded art$TART
partnerships (see asterisked projects
above). The partnership teams will
meet with the Evaluation Team and
Dr. Alexander six times during
the Spring of 2007, while their
art$TART projects are in progress,
to identify
the elements of arts in ed that
resonate with the CNY educational/cultural
community and learn how PAE can
facilitate these relationships
and leverage them for additional
funding.
Over the years, PAE has
been hearing and noticing that
CNY educators, cultural organizations,
and funding organizations are all
interested in strengthening arts
in education as a long-term, creative
educational strategy. They frequently
come to PAE with great ideas for
new programs that will engage the
other two populations, but too
often run up against obstacles.
We believe that it is time to bring
these groups together by researching
how our schools can fully benefit
from the rich community resources
available in CNY, how our cultural
organizations can connect effectively
with schools, and how PAE can support
this activity to enhance the education
of our students.
You can stay informed
about developments in CCE on our website.
