Now for Syracuse
Stage Benefit Performance!
Join us on Wednesday, March
1st at 6:30 pm, for a reception with:
- Senator John de Francisco
- David Ridings our NYSCA
representative
- Dean Carol Brzozowski
from the SU College
of Visual
and Performing Arts
- Over 40 students from
the Nottingham
High School
"Layering Project"
- and many more artists,
educators, and community members
as Syracuse Stage presents a performance
of Obie Award-winning playwright Lynn
Nottage's Intimate
Apparel to benefit
Partners for Arts Education. The performance begins at 7:30.
Intimate Apparel
received the New York Drama Critics
Circle and Outer Critics Circle Awards
for best play of the season in 2004. Based on the life of the playwright's African-American grandmother who made undergarments
for socialites and scandalous ladies,
this gentle yet passionate play is an exquisite piece as rich and delicate as that intricate lingerie.
At Nottingham High School,
students are exploring the themes
of Intimate
Apparel through theater and fiber-arts
study. You can find out more
about their project and, in the theater
lobby, view the fiber pieces they
have created. It's just one of the
innovative, life-changing collaborations
that have been funded through art$TART.
State Senator John DeFrancisco and
NYSCA's David Ridings will be joining
us to honor this year's art$TART grantees
at a pre-performance reception starting
at 6:30.
Join us for the celebration,
see the play, or both.
You can order tickets for
this special performance by emailing
Kristin or calling her at 234.9911, . Please
make your reservations by Friday, February 17.
We look forward to sharing this exciting
and thoughtful play with you.
