March CNY Roundtable – Calling All Teaching Artists

The next meeting of the CNY Arts Education Roundtable will take place at The Warehouse, 350 West Fayette Street, on Thursday, March 22 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. This gathering will be targeted to teaching artists as a discussion about professional development opportunities, shared practices, news from the field, and benefits and concerns.  To help us prepare for the meeting, please RSVP to Georgia at 234.9911 or by email if you would like to come.

Our next slide review will be the second week of March for the planning of our  2007-2008 exhibition season for group exhibitions in our beautiful space.  If you have already shown in our exhibition space, please wait four years prior to resubmitting. We are also looking for exterior public art works to show for the duration of a year in our exciting Sculpture Court area outside the A+D Building.  I am curating an exhibition on the varied ideas surrounding SUSTAINABILITY.
   

Submissions must be received no later than Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

Send visual documentation to my attention at the address above, including:

          20 slides and/or CD, DVD, VHS

          Current (hardcopy) Exhibition Resume

          Artist Statement and/or exhibition statement – 100 word max.

Schweinfurth Art Center
The Schweinfurth is currently seeking submissions for two shows: Made in NY 2007 & Quilts=Art=Quilts 2007.
Made in NY 2007, June 30 - August 27, 2007.  The Art Center extends an exhibition opportunity to artists residing in New York State to showcase their work in a juried exhibition in the summer of 2007.  Two and three-dimensional work will be accepted including, but not limited to, photography, sculpture, ceramics, painting, drawing, fiber and digital art. Each artist may submit up to two artworks for consideration. Entry is free for members, $20 for non-members.  See the Made in NY 2007 Prospectus. Entry Deadline:April 4, 2007

Quilts=Art=Quilts 2007, November 4, 2007– January 6, 2008. The prospectus for the 26th annual juried quilt show is now available. The Art Center has long recognized the importance of quilts as a visual medium, and has been presenting quilts in an art gallery setting since 1981. Quilts=Art=Quilts showcases quilts as an art form. Cost: $20 for up to 2 quilts for Art Center members, $25 for non-members.  See the Quilts=Art=Quilts 2007 Prospectus. Entry Deadline: August 20, 2007.

There are opportunities for artists/agencies to sell crafts, and also to conduct workshops.  The festival is produced by Americorps VISTA and the Bys and Girls Clubs of Syracuse, and has a multi-cultural theme.
