SAP Grant Orientation
The School Arts Partnership Grant is a state-wide matching grant for up to $10,000 for partnerships between schools and teaching artists or cultural organizations. If you are interested in applying for this grant, please visit the SAP page on our website (http://www.arts4ed.org/funding/SAP_index.shtml) to get more information and download an application form. The application for the grants for the 2004 - 2005 school year is due on June 21st.

PAE will be giving orientation sessions around the state. For Central New York, the session will be on Tuesday, May 18, 3:30 - 5 pm at the Delavan Gallery.  All applicants must attend an orientation session (or otherwise consult with PAE) before submitting an application, so take advantage of this opportunity to meet with our staff and other grant applicants to clarify and simplify the grantwriting process.

The Delavan Gallery is at 501 West Fayette Street (downstairs from the PAE offices).  If the parking lot is full, please park on the Wyoming Street side of the building.  If you need directions, go to http://www.arts4ed.org/about/directions.shtml. For more information, please see our website or call us at 234.9911.

Arts Ed Roundtable Rescheduled
April's Arts Ed Roundtable has been rescheduled to Thursday, May 20, 3:30 - 5 pm.  The Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center (http://www.cayuganet.org/smac/) welcomes Lauren Unbekant as she offers an overview for teachers of the opportunities for partnerships between school communities and teaching artists of all disciplines.  The future for arts-in-education is bright, and this gathering will allow all to share that vision and consider ways to bring a partnership into Cayuga County schools.

If you, as a representative of your school community, are interested in arts-in-education programs, funding for partnerships, or further resources regarding the field of arts in education in Cayuga County, as well as networking with others who have developed successful projects or are looking to, this is a way to feed your inquiry, as well as learn more about the Schweinfurth education programs.

Visit the Partners for Arts Education web site for more information about programs within Central New York as well as statewide resources:  www.arts4ed.org

Teaching Artist Training
PAE will be conducting a teaching artist training session in Syracuse on Saturday, May 22 from 9 am to 3 pm in the Large Dance Studio at Syracuse Stage. The workshop will provide artists of all disciplines (visual, dance, theater, music and writing) with methods to bring their artistry into a classroom setting.  Experienced and beginning artists will develop tools necessary to create innovative lesson plans based on New York State's best practices in the field of teaching artistry through the elements of their own art.

The fee for the workshop is $60, which includes all materials.  There is a discount available for cultural organizations that send two or more participants.  Please bring a bag lunch.  Chocolate will be provided.

Syracuse Stage is located at 820 East Genesee Street (corner Irving Ave.) in Syracuse.

If you missed our training in February, or would like to sharpen your skills further, please email Georgia Popoff or call our office - 234.9911.
