Light
Work exhibit features artist/child
collaborations
"Secret Games: Wendy Ewald Collaborative Works with
Children, 1969-1999" distills thirty
years of photography that crosses
the line separating the photographer
from the subject. Her collaborations
with children around the world focus
on questions of identity and cultural
difference. She
encourages children to use cameras
to create portraits of self and community
and to articulate their own personal
dreams and hopes while collaborating
visually and verbally with her.
Syracuse University
students will be participating in
a project with fifth grade students
at Ed Smith Elementary in Syracuse
based on Ewald's work.
Their photographs will be featured
in a show at Light Work
next spring.
The exhibit will be on view at Light Work 316 Waverly
Avenue on the S.U. campus until October 15. A lecture by Wendy Ewald with a reception immediately
following will take place on Tuesday, September 13. For more information, you can visit the Light
Work website at http://www.lightwork.org/.
