Apply for an art$TART Grant
Teachers: Are you ready to bring the arts into your classroom?
Artists: Are you ready to share your artistic process with students?
Cultural Organizations: Are you ready to excite the next generation about your art form?

It's time for you to apply for an art$TART grant! Up to $2500 in matching funds is available for partnerships between teachers and teaching artists or cultural organizations that use an art form to teach to the NYS Standards in any subject. (Up to $5000 is available for schools that have successfully completed an art$TART partnership and are ready to deepen their practice.)

Applications will be due October 27, and there are grant-writing orientation sessions in September in locations around Central New York (Auburn, Pulaski, Watertown, Potsdam, Verona, East Syracuse) to answer your questions and make it easier for you to apply. Check our website for updates on locations near you.  If you would like to attend any of these sessions, please RSVP to Sue by email or phone at 234-9911.

Arts in Mind Update
We are happy to welcome two new schools to the Arts in Mind initiative this year – Frazer School and Van Duyn Elementary. They join last year's pilot schools – Danforth, Franklin, Grant,  and McKinley-Brighton – that are bringing the arts into their buildings as part of their whole-school planning process. We also have nine local cultural organizations making their offerings available for access, alignment, integration, and professional development in schools. The R/E/D Group LLC, an independent evaluation organization (affiliated with the Office of Professional Research & Development at University College), is currently compiling data from the 2007-08 school year, which we eagerly await.

You can read about last year's pilot partnerships at the Arts in Mind website. We are looking forward to another successful year of bringing schools and arts together for Syracuse's children.
