This two-hour workshop will look at
poetry as not only a stand-alone unit
of study with ELA teachers but a powerful
tool in any classroom. Hands-on
activities to share with students
will be presented along with methods
of strengthening reading comprehension,
cross-curricular applications, and
general elements of poetry as a creative
art to integrate into core subject
instruction.
This
workshop is free and open to all teachers.
It will be facilitated by Georgia
Popoff, a CNY community poet. It is
sponsored by Partners for Arts Education
as part of the Community
Life through Poetry: Literacy Redefined
through Artistic Expression
program with the Syracuse City School
District, with funding from the CNY
Community Foundation.
